Allen Wickers Pub

We had a couple of week off from MoFF, but we were back to normal last week! We ended up taking a trip to Allen Wickers Pub in Plano to watch the U.S. National Team World Cup qualifying match.

Allen Wickers describes itself as a "European Style Football House" and is known for showing World Cup, MLS, Champions League, and other European league matches. We tend to spend most of our sports watching time focusing on American Football, so a night of soccer watching was a fun change.

The beer selection was the best part of Allen Wickers. I sampled the Lakewood Rock Ryder and a Franconia beer that I can't for the life of me remember the name of. These are both Dallas area breweries - support your local businesses!

I loved that the menu referred to the big brand beers as "unadventurous lagers."

The food at Allen Wickers is pretty much your average bar food - burgers, sandwiches, etc. We did the appetizer sampler and choose soft pretzels, spinach dip, and cheese sticks for our three dishes. I liked the pretzels the best.

I had the chicken caesar wrap and fries for dinner, and Ryan tried the fish and chips. My brother-in-law Chris was the most adventurous, and ordered the grilled cheese cheeseburger. It was a burger that used two grilled cheese sandwiches as buns. Even my extreme love of grilled cheese couldn't get me to order that heart attack on a plate!

Allen Wickers was a fun place, and we had a good time watching the match (even though the U.S. lost). The food is good, not spectacular, but good for bar food. I would totally recommend this place for watching a game, especially a soccer match!
